Marie Antoinette

I love the beauty of the 17th and 18th Centuries. The colors, soft fabrics, hats, and especially the shoes!

One of my favorite Art magazines Stampington & Company is devoting a whole magazine to Marie Antoinette and Vintage inspired Art and Jewelry.

The publication will be on sale April 1st. This is a special publication and I don't doubt they will sell out. Just looking at this picture makes me want to do some Victorian inspired art.

It also makes me want to read more about this time in history. The book Queen of Fashion by Caroline Weber sounds just like the right choice!

The photo's here were taken by Annie Leibovitz the famous photographer.

Doesn't sound like it is time to grab that book and head for a hammock under the tree in the mild spring weather and dream away to another time~

Zen moment

Who needs a Zen Day?! Sometimes my mind goes a million miles a minute. No matter how much I have to do and even when I am slowing down. I have to remind myself to relax. Just relax. There are a few things that we can do to slow down and savor a moment. For me listening to birds or wind chimes blowing in the winds are just a few favorite sounds that are soothing. Sitting in the shade having a quite moment. Sipping coffee in the morning while reading. Creating art. Stretching and feeling your body move just a little smoother. But a real Zen moment would be taking a total time out shutting off your thoughts, taking a moment of peace from it all! We need to do this daily to rejuvenate ourselves. I made this page to remind me to take the time to do the things I need for me!! To take that moment and stop!! Have a true Zen moment You can do it too!!If you need a little help in that area a new place I found was....

Happy St. Patricks Day!

We have a wee bit of the Irish in us and this is a day full of celebration. Here is Leprechaun catcher that I helped my daughter make and low and behold I think we spotted one running out the door this morning. They are so tricky those Leprechauns~ chasing that rainbow to the pot of gold! ~

I found a recipe for a cocktail float! Vanilla ice cream topped with Irish stout! Scoop ice cream into a pint glass, and pour in enough stout to fill the glass. I haven't tried it yet! Rich and dessert like....yum!

March is W omen's History Month

We might be inclined to forget about W omen's History Month
But the fact is we must remember all the challenges we as women have over come. I know for me personally, professionally and artistically that I must never forget how special our predecessors have been. I even have fond memories of those ladies who have touched my life to help my journey who have no claim to W omen's History Month. There is so much history about I am in awe of the accomplishments of so many women who are acknowledged in our history.Women that needs to be passed on to our daughters and their daughters.
So whether you are sharing history of women or current women to aspire to remember to visit a few sites, read a few books, celebrate your women artists and others. Not only in March but every chance you get. Share them with your daughters, female friends and even strike up conversations of awareness with your male counterparts. We must continue to change with the times and contribute on a level that will make a difference whether it be in big ways or small ways. Here are a few sites to share to inspire your search on the History of Women. I encourage you to take a visit and share your experience.

"Feels Like Spring" Would you like some tea?

Hello glad you stopped by on this sunny spring day!
After a trip to the Northern California Wine Country we are back here in Paso Robles yet another wine area of the Central Coast of California.
I will have to go out and take some pictures for you to see our area! But for now here is my journal page invoking a spring time feel. Ah how it feels great to travel but even better to be home! Brewing a wonderful peach blend of tea and working on journal pages. I have been also getting used to the time change. I caught a glimpse of Ellen DeGeneres and she mentioned: "Wouldn't it be nice if they turned back the clock 1 minute a day for 60 days so we wouldn't be so affected by it!" And "How is that for you scientists?? she said~ it works for me!" And that would work for me too! If you ever feel blue she is the greatest! She is one laugh after another.
The background of my journal page is done with acrylic paints. I first gesso the journal page, paint the background in layers and paste the images on. I have been doing more backgrounds than writing at this point but I am sure I will be filling up the pages.

Enjoyable Tastings and Tour at Mauritson Winery

Here is Samantha with my glass of wine! Don't worry she is just holding it while I take the photo's. We had an amazing day and tour of the winery. While we were tasting Samantha was able to go on the grounds with her dad just outside the tasting room and play with the winery dogs. She had a blast! The oak barrels are tasted from to see the progress of the wines. One of my favorites was the.....
RockPile Malbec 2006
I can't wait to go back again and taste the beauty of the wines! I would love to get a few varieties and taste them with different cheese's!
Mauritson Winery has an online store, Wine Club and many events such as the barrel tasting weekend!

Sonoma County California Vineyards in Healdsburg. This is near the winery we visited. What a wonderful day. Full of adventure and enjoying picturesque views. We left Paso Robles early in the morning and met my daughter's in Sebastopol for lunch. Laura had flown in from NYC and Jeni picked her up in SF the night before. They had gotten breakfast and had been antique and thrift shopping while we were driving up. Jeni is on the left, Laura the right. Even their little sister Samantha enjoyed our trip!
The weather was beautiful. Crisp but not too cold. The sun felt amazing. It was around 230pm when we arrived at our destination. Ready for some wine tasting ladies??!!
