Pink Friday

Today is Pink Friday for the Schools! Stand up for the Schools! The future for our children and their children depend on it! Go to........ www.pinkfriday09.org ! The cutbacks for California are suppose to be $$11.6 billion for K-12. This is a huge impact on our school systems. My mom was a teacher for 25years + She was active in the California Teachers Association
( www.cta.org) She would be recruiting everyone if she were still alive! We need to make our law makers listen! Audrey gets a newly sewn set of pink pajamas. She is my first granddaughter her mom Krissy is doing an amazing job! Audrey loves her new pull dogie toy. I want a better future for her and my youngest daughter of 7 yr. So Support Pink Friday! And have a very Pink Day, Pink Camellias, Pink Pajamas, Pink ribbons in your hair or Wear Pink to show your support for our schools! And remember some of the first things to go are art and music education! My heart goes out to all those affected by the cuts and join me in taking a stand for our educators and their needs!!

"Feels Like Spring" Would you like some tea?

Hello glad you stopped by on this sunny spring day!
After a trip to the Northern California Wine Country we are back here in Paso Robles yet another wine area of the Central Coast of California.
I will have to go out and take some pictures for you to see our area! But for now here is my journal page invoking a spring time feel. Ah how it feels great to travel but even better to be home! Brewing a wonderful peach blend of tea and working on journal pages. I have been also getting used to the time change. I caught a glimpse of Ellen DeGeneres and she mentioned: "Wouldn't it be nice if they turned back the clock 1 minute a day for 60 days so we wouldn't be so affected by it!" And "How is that for you scientists?? she said~ it works for me!" And that would work for me too! If you ever feel blue she is the greatest! She is one laugh after another.
The background of my journal page is done with acrylic paints. I first gesso the journal page, paint the background in layers and paste the images on. I have been doing more backgrounds than writing at this point but I am sure I will be filling up the pages.

Enjoyable Tastings and Tour at Mauritson Winery

Here is Samantha with my glass of wine! Don't worry she is just holding it while I take the photo's. We had an amazing day and tour of the winery. While we were tasting Samantha was able to go on the grounds with her dad just outside the tasting room and play with the winery dogs. She had a blast! Sonoma County California Vineyards in Healdsburg. This is near the winery we visited. What a wonderful day. Full of adventure and enjoying picturesque views. We left Paso Robles early in the morning and met my daughter's in Sebastopol for lunch. Laura had flown in from NYC and Jeni picked her up in SF the night before. They had gotten breakfast and had been antique and thrift shopping while we were driving up. Jeni is on the left, Laura the right. Even their little sister Samantha enjoyed our trip!
The weather was beautiful. Crisp but not too cold. The sun felt amazing. It was around 230pm when we arrived at our destination. Ready for some wine tasting ladies??!!

Winter 09 Journal Background Pages

Here are some of the latest backgrounds for my journal pages. It has been cold and rainy here quite a bit. We need it! Keeping in mind that behind the showers are sunshine and flowers~ Some of my favorite things. I haven't been painting as much as I should. I started to spring clean and organize. That is always time consuming! Now it is time for a break.
I am about to go up to Northern California to visit with family. It is about a four hour drive. I am sure I will have lots of inspiration from the weekend away. We are planning to lunch in Healdsburg, Ca. and to take a wine tour then stay near my daughter's in Petaluma. I have lots to do today and will post more art and some photo's of our trip when I get back. I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!!
