Angel "She Gave Me Her Wings"

Hello friends and new followers! I thought I would share the angel acrylic painting that was inspired from my journal page.

I created this angel's piece in the purple and rose color palette. On the bottom of the acrylic canvas I wrote "her voice was in my heart, she gave me wings."

Sorry about the color on this one taken for close up and exposure isn't the best

If you look closely at the top *first angel photo you can see there is mixed media papers are all across the top of the canvas of this angel acrylic painting. Also the right angels wing in painted on paper that is glued to the canvas. On this image you can see where the paper was laid on the canvas and I placed her wing on the purple angel.

Today without loading my image to COLOURlovers  I tried to match the acrylic painting palette. I thought I might like to make some designs for fabric from the angel color palette. I will post what I come up with later. I did make one design with the three lightest colors but want to make a few with all the colors combined.

If you missed my free journal page post "She gave me wings" it is right here and you can learn the inspiration behind this angel painting. I will post the angel images in full size on my Flickr page so if you want to take a better look at the full size image hop on over when you are done, but they won't be up until later today. You'll be able to see more of the details of the angels and their wings there.

Please don't forget to post on what day you would enjoy the journal prompt if I change it. Poll is on the side bar. I am trying to figure out a better schedule as life is getting busier while I am on this journey. Sammie has a science fair, talent show and book report where I have to help her make a puppet. here is also wedding stuff going on (my oldest is getting married!), some baby showers, Easter, then the wedding! Yes, that time of year. Not to mention new things right around the corner! More to come about that later. PS.  I think the puppet part will be fun, but she wants to do life science and hatch brine shrimp. Hm-mm....That one is for hubby. I love science but not that project! lol

I must admit have been painting but, not enjoying the results. I will try and be brave and share them any way later on. Hopefully I can get creative with my acrylic painting and create something I like and don't struggle with! But when you are pushing ideas that frustration can be common right?  I hope you are finding the time to get creative! What projects are you working on right now? I would love to know~

Free Journal Prompt "She Gave Me Wings"

Hello friends, journalers and anyone visiting for the first time. This is a journal page that I created using images of faces that I had already drawn in separate drawings. I photo copied, cut them out and then pasted them on the page with matte medium. Once glued down I painted and used stamps, charcoal pencil to outline and also add lines for hair, wings and words. My words were inspired from thinking of my mom. March 8 it would of been her birthday she passed away four years ago this summer. It is hard for me to think of it still but I feel close to her when working on my art. Her loss is what really spurred me on to making big changes in my life, it took over a year to take the leap to make big changes. There was a lot of reflection of what was currently going on in my life at the time and growing unhappiness with my career at the time. I can always hear my mom saying you can do what ever you set out to do. You have talents and I would love to see you be able to use your talents! Well unfortunately she will never be able to see what changes I have made here, unless she is looking down on me and I hope she is!

This page is created from the words she put in my heart and how she gave me wings. So written on my journal page is, "She gave me wings her voice was in my heart." I will always feel her in my heart and remember her voice of wisdom. I am happy to say that I have also made a new painting inspired from this journal page. I can't wait to share it with you. But until then I hope you challenge yourself to make a journal page of your own and if you are having a road block it is great to take something you have already made, copy it and change it up to suit your thoughts in the moment. It may be just what you need to break free and evolve your page into something else!
Who has influenced your art journey?

Journal Prompt: Take an image you already have created and transform its purpose. Write something inspired from your page onto your page. Or create a background and add t an angel quote to your page.

Quote: Angels lend us their wings so we can find our way home.~ Author Unknown

Folk Art Angel

After doing the journal page I shared on Sunday this was the painting that came from it. It was done on canvas with acrylic paint, colored pencils, oil pastels and gold leaf. This angel has a very folk art look and her message is simple. Then she went to create her dreams. In the sky is writing almost like a journal page would be but in colors similar to the painting as not to distract. Here is another collage a close up of my folk art angel images from the painting. Click on either to enlarge.
Today I feel ready to create on canvas again. I have been doing some digital creating with my photography for this mini Photo Shop class as you know and I will share a few works later this week. The only thing that tugs at me is when I am working in digital media is I don't get to the paint brushes enough. I think there has to be a balance of paint vs computer for me. As much as I love digital there is something about creating with your hands, allowing yourself to get dirty with paint and pastels that feeling that you are more integrated with what you are working on. The rain has stopped here for the moment and although it is cold the sun is shining bright through the windows. A perfect day for painting.
How do you balance creating things and your computer time? Have you ever tried creating a folk art piece of work?

Angel of Love

angel en caustic mixed media painting on canvasDetermined to do some new work on canvas that I purchased I pulled the canvas out last week and this is what I have been working on. This angel of love is an acrylic paint, altered scrap paper, dried flowers, glitter and some embellishments. I am toying with adding more wax to certain areas to enhance area as if I was using paint. I love seeing how something evolves when you don't have a concrete plan of any sort. I must say I enjoy using blues and reds together with white. When I took the photograph the sun was shining on the painting like an arch. I didn't paint that in, although it would of been amazing to add it but this is after it is waxed that it appeared and I caught it. I might sell prints of it both ways. Sometimes things just happen and that was something I was in awe of in the moment and was so happy I was able to capture that ray of light! Has anything happened to you while creating that feels like a sign? Or that it was meant to be a certain way?

Folk Art Mixed Media

folk art mixed media en causticThis is a folk art mixed media that I waxed. So I am showing a photo collage of before and after.I had gotten 5"x5" size canvas and this is what I came up with. A few hearts are strung through a small clip and then the rest are glued as if she is dropping them to brighten someone's day. The words are the definition of the word "brighten". I kind of went glitter crazy, but it did say brighten. She was painted in acrylics, I used glitter and flakes and there is tissue paper glued and painted over. Dear readers I hope she brightens your day~

Angel Journal Pages

I have been toiling with all kinds of things going through my mind. Too many technical things. I have been em erst in computer goings on. I am taking an online class and it requires my time. The benefits will out weigh the work. I am still contemplating bigger changes for the blog which I plan on tackling later in March. But not being able to do my art the last few weeks is getting to me. I have spread myself too thin especially when you add the mom job in. (I still have a 7yr old at home.) Motherhood is divine, but with that said it is time consuming no matter what age your children are. This is one of the last paintings I did prior to my older children coming to visit. I painted it on my journal pages. If I could ask my spiritual guide or angel to come help me now I would. Not because it is an emergency but just to help me clear my head, not to compare myself, not to worry as much, to help me breath and bring clarity to my direction. I know a lot of people are experiencing trying times and I am grateful to be where I am today. I truly believe that if you clear your mind and ask for help there is a higher power to help us along.
What helps you clear your anxieties? How many hats are you wearing in one day? Do you give yourself time to nurture your mind? art? body? Does making a schedule for yourself from working at home help you? Or do you slip things in, getting done around everything else?

Sometimes we are like an angel with one wing, and we necessarily need the other wing of a similar angel to keep flying.

Winter's Angel

Color inspiration~
Ready to finish~
Process of layering texture and paint~

Above are a few of the process photo's. The angel is a mixed media piece with acrylic paint, pages from a book for her wings, layering of molding paste for her hair and gold leaf highlights through out the painting. I decided to paint her all yellow tones and the background warm orange reds inspired by the colors of the trees. I am going to give her a coating of wax to seal her she is on wood. I had her eyes closed as if she were soaking up the last colors of autumn and the sun to keep her warm through the winter~ The color of springtime is in the flowers, the color of winter is in the imagination~ Ward Elliot Hour
