Hello,  Many changes are coming with spring. Today I thought I would share a little photography of things I captured on an late afternoon walk.

 I know late in the afternoon the hummingbirds can not resist the bottle brush it is a stunning plant full of nectar. I waited patiently among the bush edge for at least 20 minutes. Down in front of me swooped this hummingbird so close I could of kissed it, saying hello to me and asking me to leave. I didn't and it decided to indulge any way. That is when I was able to capture some quick shots of it feeding. I must ready my plants in the yard for my dear little hummingbirds that I love to watch. I have seen yellow finches of late among other birds returning.

I am not sure what type of tree this is, but it's blooms were beautiful, pretty, pink with the green leaves in the back had me taking quite a few images. This is only one of them.

 Yes what was barren is starting to have buds. Who was gone is coming back into sight. The delights of spring are upon us. Have you noticed things beginning to change?

Elsie Roemer Bird Sanctuary Walk & Photography

I hope you had an enjoyable break if you took one. When we recently took time off to meet relatives and gather. We found time to take a wonderful walk by a nature preserve in Alameda, Ca. at the Elsie Roemer Bird Sanctuary.

If it hadn't of been so hazy with a layer of fog I would of taken more pics of the SF view.We walked all the way down from where we stayed and followed this path to the sanctuary.

I managed to see some wildlife in many forms on the water, logs and land.

A grey spotted squirrel hiding among the ice plants.

There were so many birds around this preserve. There were so many little plovers along the shore, they are so fast I only got a few good shots.

And some of them seemed to just pose for me, like this regal brown seagull, at least that is what I call him.

I just loved the way the sun light hit and the one strand of hair blew into Sammie's face. She loves nature and loved our outing at the beach. I can't wait to share a few more fall photographs and soon some new art!

Travels In Tahoe CA

Hello, I thought I would share a few photos from one of our jaunts while in Lake Tahoe. We drove about 40 minutes from South LakeTahoe to near the Nevada line and hiked down to Chimney Beach.

This is one of the views we saw on our hike down.

The hike didn't seem very long going down, but with the altitude difference coming back after a long day at the beach and playing round was the opposite. We paced ourselves pretty well but the last climb up was very steep, although you can't tell from this image. I can't wait to share more nature goodness with you!

This photo collage opens bigger, if you'd like to see it up close. Yes, this July there was still plenty of snow on the higher elevations.

It was amazing  to be on the beach with all the views. With it being warm out and snow on the mountains was spectacular. The water was extremely cold and high this year. I was suprised to see sea gulls at such a high elevation and so far from the coast. I wish I could of captured all the birds I saw on photos. I did manage to capture a few more to share later. 

PS. I can't believe we are on our last ten days of vacation. I have a few more things on the list and hope we can squeeze them in! I hope to have some artsy stuff to share with you soon! xo Theresa

Cherry Blossoms Photography

It has been gloomy, pouring rain and down right cold. But I managed to take my camera outside on this very crisp day just before the rain and take some photographs of my neighbors blooming cherry tree. The blossoms are big and beautiful. I used a bokeh of hearts in the back ground and a vintage tint to add a slightly aged  effect, then added the words spring love.

In this photograph I just added text. The beauty of the pink against the blue and the dark branches are a sight to behold.

This is the same image as the first only no tint to make it look aged.

 This is towards the base of the tree. She just wants to bloom and to grow even by where she was once pruned. I love the pinks against the gray of the fence and the bark of the tree.

I have more photographs to share with you another day! I also worked on a journal page but not sure if I am  happy with it. I have painted three things that aren't sitting well with me. Maybe I should clean up my table space and it will help me see clearer or maybe my creative juices are needing some sunshine. Either way today I will be straightening up and then painting. lol

Nature Photography

I thought I would share some photography I took when visiting Healdsburg, CA. The fields are lush green, rocks covered in moss, roses frozen but on the vine and the air was crisp. How could you not be inspired?
Below is a collage of images that I took. 

 Then I thought I might take one of the  snapshots and alter it a few times to get some different looks and these are the photographs with some changes & what I used to achieve them.

This is almost true to the original image but I lightened the exposure.

This photograph I added contrast and adjusted the color a bit, fixed exposure and put a cinema scope frame on it.

This last one here has textures over laid and then I played with the exposure to give it a more forest feel.

Honestly I think I have just fallen in love with textures. I might have to take some other images and alter them now. Have you ever altered your photography? Played with textures? How does nature inspire you?

November Photography

Nature Photography

We went on a day trip to Creston, CA. and these are just a few of the photographs that I took. In the sky the clouds were forming, it was humid and a fall storm was coming but held off until our drive home. We took a walk around this lake and enjoyed nature and all her gifts, but when I came across these butterfly bushes I was captured in the moment and couldn't leave. I was so enchanted with the butterflies & soon to come hummingbirds I had stay and capture the moment in photographs. Leon and Sammie left me as they easily tired of waiting for me to capture that perfect shot. They even got a row boat and tried to sneak up on me, but I saw them coming. Patience paid off as I was able to capture more beautiful butterfly shots which was no easy task as they flew all around me as if to get me to leave their feeding grounds but I patiently waited for them to get used to me. I will share more photographs & telling s of our day later. So do come back soon~What was your favorite day trip lately?
