Trick or Treat

I was invited to this Halloween party and when I arrived I was scared out of my wits. It was a surreal sight of ghosts and spirits. I didn't dare stay! I chose to get out of there as quick as I could. Breathless and nerves rattled I jumped into my car to get away. But there was no bargaining I felt the powers after me.........
Bargaining with Dark Forces

The forces unknown to me took control I couldn't even steer my car. I knew I couldn't get out in time. I saw a bright light. I followed it...............
I did not feel the same. I felt like I had been transformed into a spirit being.
I am at peace now and am forever at your callings~ I was a good person in life so no matter whose dark forces reach for me I feel protected by some spirit greater than mine.

I wish you a safe and Happy Halloween~ (Digital art done at Ployvore)

Happy Halloween ~

Halloween is often associated with the colors black and orange with symbols such as pumpkins, witches and ghosts! I wish you a happy Halloween. Drop back by and see a mixed media piece I did for Dia De La Muerta ( Day of the Dead! -All Souls Day )

What Treat Do You Wish For?

Wishcasting Wednesday ~ What treat do you wish for?

My first thought is cupcakes but when I really think about it.......................

How about relaxing on the couch with not a care in the world with visions of creating beautiful artwork~

Portrait On Wood

Photograph of Laura I worked from ~
Portrait I did from the photograph~
Details~

I decided to push myself to create a portrait of my daughter Laura. I did it from a photograph I had taken when we were at coffee in a wonderful little cafe in Cambria California. Laura lives in New York City and had visited us several months back. I took some aspects of the photo and changed them a little here and there but stayed somewhat true to it. I almost feel the portrait is a bit stylized. When I emailed it to my brother a very talented artist he said, "it looks just like her." That made me feel really good as I never dreamed that I would do any kind of portrait work or work that includes faces. I have done crafts, painted abstracts and florals, done tole painting etc. but have not really pushed myself to do faces until now. I think that fear of failure was part of it. I am learning to take risks, push through my fears, paint over something, change it where the piece is not working and grow from my work. I don't have to like everything I create but when I do I am happy~

I love the feeling of foggy mornings. There is a mist in the air, crisp and invigorating. I stopped and took a few photos of nature in my area to share with you. Autumn is the weather that warms my soul.

Don't Forget To Love Yourself

What do you wish to say yes to?

Her swirling hair represents life s chaos, movement and ever changing nature. I tried to make her slow down and self reflect. A reminder to myself, " Don't forget to love yourself! " What if we just take the time to slow down and nurture ourselves and our dreams?

What we do flows from who we are. ~Paul Vitale

I feel my body, my mind, weighted down - all is heavy - but my blood, my inner fire, my passion, the little unburdened kid in me, patiently wait to burst free. Some of us die never having burst. -Drew Sirtors

I wish to love myself and my dreams~Theresa

Goddess of the Moon

Well, I have been working in my journal for Goddess and The Poet. When you think too much sometimes it just doesn't flow. I am calling to the Goddess of the moon to help me create a full life of art. I am continuing my journey with growth and development~ I can see the changes happening but am not where I want to be yet. I am open to help to enable me to be successful on my journey.

New Moon
The new moon, of no importance
lingers behind as the yellow sun glares
and is gone beyond the sea's edge;
earth smokes blue;
the new moon, in cool height above the blushes,
brings a fresh fragrance of heaven to our senses.

Just Challenge Yourself

Sorry I haven't been posting as much this week. I really have been trying to challenge myself!
I am taking The Goddess & Poet over at Suzi Blu's. It focuses on learning to draw pretty stylized faces. So negative thoughts aside on my drawing! Here are a few of my first attempts for her class. I will share the progress with you. As you know you only get better with practice! ( I hope!) I am being vulnerable in my process to grow in my drawing skills. It truly is a skill that has to be practiced. So if you think you can't draw just challenge yourself! Get a moleskin sketchbook, some graphite pencils, a good kneaded eraser and practice!
I have a face that I am painting and can't wait to share that with you. Adding elements of dimension with colored pencil, paint and more. That is what I really love when you get into the mixed media elements. But I know in order to grow I must draw too! Off to the drawing boards as they say~
Hope I have inspired you to take courage over your fears and try!

Follow Your Dreams- Harvest Moon

Full Moon Dream board ~
I put together these images for my dream board to enable me to see my dreams and steps I have been taking come into fruition. I have always had a creative outlet. I have done many things to support my family and now I am trying to turn my life passion into where I want to be~ Not only being creative but being able to let my visions become reality~ Working from home. Creating artwork to sell. I am ready to share what I have created and what I am creating. Having faith that my path is the right one and now is the right time ~ Seeing the domino effect of positivity and being more positive~ Having my vision become a reality~
Today I am participating in Jamie Ridler Studios -Full moon dream boards~ This is my first time doing this and I thank Jamie for the inspiration. Drop by her link if you would like to learn more and see other people's dream boards. ~Hope to see you again soon. Theresa

Autumn Is In The Air

{Images via Flickr}
There is a chill to the morning air. You run and grab your sweater. You see pumpkins and sunflowers in the stores or in your garden ready for picking. You take a brisk walk and when you return you savor your favorite warm drink~Autumn is in the air again! ~

If a man . . . can paint a landscape, and convey into souls and ochres all the enchantments of Spring or Autumn; it is certain that the secret cannot be kept; the first witness tells it to a second, and men go by fives and tens and fifties to his doors.
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
