Video " Painting In My Journal" All That Jazz

I posted this on You Tube, but if you don't subscribe to my channel you probably missed it. I just edited this journal video last week. You can see me painting "All That Jazz". It has lots of layers. If you would like to see the original post its right here with more details. I hope you enjoy the video.

I will be back next week with some photography from the botanical gardens in San Luis Obispo, CA. The flora looks so much different in winter, but there are things starting to blossom. You are sure to enjoy them if you like nature!

Here is a snap shot of the original completed. I tried to add it here for you to see, but Blogger hates me and won't let me add it! That is why I will be moving off this platform soon!  Until next time, or visit me at DearCreatives.com too! I have a weekly link up you can join in! Love to have you there too! All my best, xo

Character Sketch & Painting

  HHQ8FUUU7MY2
Hi, Happy Friday everyone! Just a quick post, as it's been a busy week. Sammie got in her first play, a musical. Add on homework, book report and settling into having more work. Seem to be running late each night and behind. Enough said, the life of a mom. So I did make it to the paint table a couple of times and took a sketch I did when hanging out late one night.
{sketch}

I am doing a series of animals as people hunters and such. So here is my latest. Who knows if I revise a bit. But, I thought I would share. It is the same as prior. Pencil, color pencil, acrylic paint. I redid my deer girl you can see her in the previous post.

{close-up}

I hope you have  a great weekend ahead! & visit Paint Party Friday to see more artists. Link is in my resource page if you haven't been.

Enter the giveaway if you like! Hope to see you soon! Hoping to make it to an art & wine show over the weekend on the coast if the weather permits. Deer Girl 2 Sketch To Painted

Another weeks flies by! I found myself doing a little sketching, taking the sketches and adding colored pencils mocking up my colors then painting. This week I went to my tried and true, acrylics. I like using watercolor pencil but decided watercolors themselves aren't for me. I have not found the happy place with them.

The initial sketch had no color pencil :
I color penciled to see how I wanted to paint her.

Here is my deer hunter /deer girl painted with acrylics and some color pencil work, but not much.  Here she is painted with acrylics and no background

Here is a close up of her. I am still experimenting with my imaginary friends. I didn't get to paint over last weeks girl yet, but I am going to.

I kind of like her without a background, but I played around with this background almost like if someone walked up with a flashlight in the dark and saw he.

Here is a collage of the images that you can click and see the details larger. I hope to get more painting in next week. Hindered by my first migraine of the year. I am hoping they don't come to visit too often and I would be happy to never see them again. Maybe my girl can hunt them down with her bow and arrow. lol The Mr. got me some medicine and it helped. I am planning on playing along with Paint Party Friday. Do join in if you paint! Visit either way to see others. I hope to get some journaling done next week, but if nothing else I have another sketch to paint. Have a wonderful weekend.

Summer of Love
In the laziness of a summer day I sat on the grass and pondered my true loves caress, to whether he holds me in his heart or not. He loves me, he loves me not. I hope his love does not fade with the seasons end.  Theresa Huse 2011

Journal Page "Winter" from Seasons Series

How this week is flying by! I hope this is finding you well.I did a photo collage & another shot of my "Winter" page completed.

Winter from the journal page series "Seasons"

She is my favorite so far, I just finished spring & am going to be *editing video of painting that journal page.  Kelly asked, "winter already?" But, no! I want fall as long as possible. I am only doing a series of girls for the seasons then back to journaling & painting other things. I am sure those things may have some fall inspiration, as it is my favorite season!

When I get a chance I will upload a larger version so you can look close up at the detailing. It will be posted to my Flickr account. Link is on the side bar to follow along if you like.

On another note:
Part of why I haven't been around I just had gotten back up hard drive & hadn't finished moving files..... when I lost a majority of my files to a computer hiccup! Two years of photography & art! Can you see me crying!? Any how, the Mr. found a program & reset the computer a few days prior to that to recover images. But things seem to still be missing! I am devastated, but still hoping to recover more!
Photography Storage Tips:
Never keep your work just on one hard drive! Always back up! & if you use Flickr or some other hosting site add in your edited work as soon as you are done & hold private until needed! Take my advice & don't chance losing your work!

Tomorrow I have an award ceremony at Sammie's school & I will probably add this post to Paint Party Friday, but I might not be able to visit until the weekend. Just let me know you dropped by and I will return the visit! If you want to link up something you made with PPF just look in the resources page and then go pop it in their linky on Friday morning! There is lots of creativity going on with PPF! PS I have some new art quilt blocks to share soon too!
What have you been painting, journaling or working on lately?
Do you have a photography storage tip to share? (obviously I could use more!)

Art Bag

Artsy, Crafty, Re-cycled fabrics, my own pattern &  Art Bag Creation.

Remember when I mentioned all those art bags & posted about all the wonderful inspiration? Well I haven't been in the painting mood lately, but I printed out something I painted onto muslin and created an art bag / purse using felt, burlap and fabric scraps I had laying around. I used some decorative machine embroidery. Although far from perfect my daughter Sammie fell in love with it. She asked me to make the straps so she could wear it from shoulder to hip. I thought I would share the results and a few steps I am going to take to make it better next time.

If you have ever printed something from your computer you will notice how sometimes the colors just don't match the image. That is just what happened here. It was pretty light on the muslin that I printed it on. But I used permanent felt tip markers to draw in shapes and color it up. I need to fix color prior to printing!

Well, you know how I hate to stop even where there are mistakes. I decided since I started and this was kind of like a pro to type any way to finish what I started instead of scrapping it. I love figuring out how to create patterns on my own. This image shared is the back where underneath the front flap is sewn in and connected.

Another thing I will change when I create my next one is the strap material. For this I didn't want to go out and purchase anything. I wanted to use felt I had, burlap from a recycled coffee sack, woven burlap scraps I had from the wedding table runner we made, and for the straps I had these great silk pants that were ripped which I cut and created them from. Added a vintage button from one of the grandma's stash & ta da.....

A happy girl modeling her new art bag with gnomes. I promise to share  my next one with you when I make it! & I hope I can even try painting directly on fabric when I get unstuck from my painting slump! Here is the acrylic painting completed which the art bag was made from.

If you'd like to see my post about the art bag inspiration just click here. Also visit here to see the original post of the gnomes acrylic painting  and if like you can visit my link on the side bar where I have video of  how I finished the painting on You Tube.

Color Inspiration " Pomegranates In Bloom"

Today I thought I would share with you my favorite flowering bush of the season where I live. It feels so tropical when these bushes bloom, but they are not tropical they are native to the Iranian Plateau and the Himalayas in north Pakistan and Northern India. They are vibrant with color, yet feel so cool in the heat of the day. I could look at them for hours due to the ever changing blooms which then turn into pomegranates.

These flowers start from a round bud that is hard like the shell of the pomegranate.

Then they burst open like a star exposing their soft vibrant orange petals.

When they are at full bloom you can see the centers and their bright yellow stamens just bursting with pollen which the bees and birds love! There is nothing like finding a humming bird feeding on these beautiful flowers if only I could capture a photograph of that!

The history and lore around the Pomegranate flower and fruit is quite fascinating. Here is an amazing illustration of the  plant. If you want to find out more about this plant and its history visit Wikipedia.

  Theresa Huse 2010

I am inspired to draw and paint some more pomegranate flowers and later when the fruit comes I would like to try and illustrate the fruit also. I am sharing two links to prior posts you might also enjoy with pomegranate's painted by me, and one has a journal prompt.

Since I missed giving you a journal prompt since it was Father's Day about about revisiting this journal prompt page where I illustrated pomegranate flowers as an example of a page you can create for yourself & with a prompt.

Also you might remember from a previous post an Exotic Woman Acrylic Painting I created with pomegranate flowers in her hair. If not you can see it here.

Here is part of a passage from the Bible I am not sure from where, it might be Exodus if anyone knows I would love to find out.
I went down into the garden of nuts to see the fruits of the valley, and to see whether the vine flourished and pomegranates budded.

What flowers inspire your creativity? Are their colors vibrant? soft?  I would love to know~

Making Time To Create

Yesterday I got to the point where I had to make some creative time happen with paint. I had been feeling like it was too long since I picked up my brushes. There has been so much going on for the wedding, but I needed to sneak in some time for me, my art, my clearing house of letting all go and just being in the moment and creating. I needed this no matter what the outcome of my short session with my paints would be!
Here is the outcome of my creative time.

The tag is something I saved from a flating iron that was purchased. I painted sections over it so its colors would match in with the painting. On the tag it says Glamour, just under it for straight finish /processed hair.
I found the tag in my stash of papers after making my curly haired girl and found it ironic and that is when I added it to my painting.

The two images on the top are pior to adding inks and changing the background slightly.
I wasn't sure if I was done I decided to add inks in the background and see where it went.

Today and over the next week I hope to make a little more time to create as in the days beyond that I know the packing will ensue, travel and all the makings for the wedding will be coming together as will the festivities and family time for my daughter Laura and Charles big day. *I decided to share with Paint Party Friday visit if you would like to see more artwork.

Do you ever find it hard to fit in your creative time? Do you bring an art journal with you when you travel?

My Painting Video & You Tube Channel

Hello Dear Readers, Honestly I have been wanting to do a video for ever! I was gifted a Kodak play/sport which means I can make videos now! And that I did. So I created a You Tube Channel and the link is on my side bar for future visits! I hope you can visit and subscribe to my channel. I will be creating more videos.

My first Video is of me working on my gnomes painting

I want to learn an editing program and need to find a simple one. The one I borrowed was pretty complex and I was literally ready to pull my hair out by the end of the night. I also found out I need to have a good stash of music files.

So when you view this please know it was made from a 17 min. video down to 3min. Music was added that I had. It took an entire day, including creating my channel! What a learning experience. Next time I am sure it will be much easier! So If you like it ; Please leave me a comment, subscribe and give it a thumbs up and spur me on to create some more videos for you to enjoy! Maybe even a tutorial will pop up down the road......

I will post the final painting when done so you can have a better look! PS. Let me know if you have a You Tube Channel!  Have you made an art video? What is your favorite editing program ?

Limitations live only in our minds. But if we use our imaginations our possibilities become limitless. James Paolinetti

Spring Garden "Artwork In Progress part 2"

Today I thought I would share with you where I am at with my painting of a girl with flowers in the background. If you want to see my first post about this painting you can read about it in this post - Artwork in Progress I am at a stopping point. Is she completed? I think she might be. She is soaking in all of springs glory. The jasmine, lilacs, exotic blooms.....

I ended up changing her eye and nose, after getting my little model to sit still for a minute. I also made a collage of some before shots next to the completed painting. So you can see the differences.

I think I need to photograph this painting outdoors to capture its true colors, but I may have taken the photo above before adding pastels making the greens and yellows pop a bit more. I'm loosing track lol, with the science fair and talent show stuff going on for Sammie.

If you close your eyes and smell spring blooms do you see them in your mind? This is how it would look to me if I could capture the word fragrance.

Before are the three photographs on the left, stacked. The purple acrylic paint had more blue and white in it. After on the right more purple added to the acrylic paint. So here she sits like a bloom waiting in the garden to see if she is done evolving and growing like a spring flower. I will share her photograph when I get a chance to get out in the sun and take a good photograph in day time sunlight.

What is your favorite spring garden's fragrances?

Mine favorites are Narcissus

Angel "She Gave Me Her Wings"

Hello friends and new followers! I thought I would share the angel acrylic painting that was inspired from my journal page.

I created this angel's piece in the purple and rose color palette. On the bottom of the acrylic canvas I wrote "her voice was in my heart, she gave me wings."

Sorry about the color on this one taken for close up and exposure isn't the best

If you look closely at the top *first angel photo you can see there is mixed media papers are all across the top of the canvas of this angel acrylic painting. Also the right angels wing in painted on paper that is glued to the canvas. On this image you can see where the paper was laid on the canvas and I placed her wing on the purple angel.

Today without loading my image to COLOURlovers  I tried to match the acrylic painting palette. I thought I might like to make some designs for fabric from the angel color palette. I will post what I come up with later. I did make one design with the three lightest colors but want to make a few with all the colors combined.

If you missed my free journal page post "She gave me wings" it is right here and you can learn the inspiration behind this angel painting. I will post the angel images in full size on my Flickr page so if you want to take a better look at the full size image hop on over when you are done, but they won't be up until later today. You'll be able to see more of the details of the angels and their wings there.

Please don't forget to post on what day you would enjoy the journal prompt if I change it. Poll is on the side bar. I am trying to figure out a better schedule as life is getting busier while I am on this journey. Sammie has a science fair, talent show and book report where I have to help her make a puppet. here is also wedding stuff going on (my oldest is getting married!), some baby showers, Easter, then the wedding! Yes, that time of year. Not to mention new things right around the corner! More to come about that later. PS.  I think the puppet part will be fun, but she wants to do life science and hatch brine shrimp. Hm-mm....That one is for hubby. I love science but not that project! lol

I must admit have been painting but, not enjoying the results. I will try and be brave and share them any way later on. Hopefully I can get creative with my acrylic painting and create something I like and don't struggle with! But when you are pushing ideas that frustration can be common right?  I hope you are finding the time to get creative! What projects are you working on right now? I would love to know~

When angels visit us, we do not hear the rustle of wings nor fell the feathery touch of the breast of a dove; but we know their presence by the love they create in our hearts. Author Unknown

Dreams Nurtured Grow "Before & After

You might remember me sharing the beginnings of this painting in a previous post.

Here is another of the work in progress~

Here is Dreams Nurtured Grow, done. I have to take it outside to get a photograph where the sides aren't cut off there is more detailing on the left side that you can't see in this image.
On the bottom of the painting it says, She planted the seeds of her dreams. For me I love her hair as if the wind is blowing it ~ I think I lost a little of that in the final painting though with the flower added in. I truly enjoyed using all the bright colors on this painting. It is acrylic on canvas. So today it is back to the drawing board and as the affirmation says below I will be dreaming with powerful intention and see where it leads me.
What dreams are you nurturing? Are you starting to see them grow?

Here are a few affirmations I came across via Johnathon Lockwood :

Acrylic Painting "She Listened"

This acrylic painting was inspired from my previous journal page and prompt. It is on canvas and done with acrylic paints, color pencils and oil pastels. When I started it I knew I was making a sky and some grass but then it morphed a bit and mountains and ocean appeared. It was like I was listening to my heart place all the favorite places in my painting. The places that renew my energy, creativity and make me happy. The places I love. I am planting the seeds of my thoughts as I walk along following my heart~
What favorite places renew your energy? Inspire your creativity? I would love to know~
