I wanted to show you the original journal page and the variation which I posted first. I am looking for the better photograph of the original but wanted to show you so you could see the differences. I need to organize my photographs, another thing on my to do list. What I love about the first one is the bird and what I love about the second one is the writing in her hair. (listen to your heart, trust and follow your dreams) I may try doing another variation of them until I find one I love for the whole painting. Which is your favorite? Why? Do you ever use a piece of artwork and build it on variations of a theme? What kind of art, photography or writing have you created with using variations? Maybe if you haven't tried it this would be a good exercise ~
To me I think artists in general make a statement - and for the rest of their lives - every album, every book - are variations on a theme.~ Mark Mothersbaugh
Yes I agree. I need to try this. I've not done a different drawing or painting of an original piece of mine, but I have tried copying it and using it in different mediums.
ReplyDeleteI posted a couple of pages from my new journal on my blog. Check it...please and thank you.
Wonderful work..both are super gorgeous. I do love the original alot..there is something unique about it. Both so beautiful Theresa!
ReplyDeleteMy paintings( a theme) have often continued on in others pieces..and I notice it later!
or others will view my art and tell me how they are related as they will notice a connection..and that fascinates me! I love when the theme pops up and it was unplanned! Magical.
There have been pieces though.. that "yes"..it is like this "original seed" that needs to be sown in more versions and that can be fun too. Wonderfully inspiring post!
have a sparkling day!

I agree! I like where the bird is positioned in the original and I like the words in her hair in the variation! Always, lovely work!
ReplyDeleteTheresa, you are just an outstanding artist! I love the "Feeling" in the first one, it is the closeness of the two! And, the second with the heart wing and hair writing is so clever. Even the Trust side-writing is a fabulous idea. I love them both in their own ways!
