Simply Sunday "loss of a pet"

Who ever knew a bird could be so sweet~
He loved to whistle and dance to music~
Mr. Big Stuff loved being held and petted by everyone~

Today our lovely Cockatiel bird passed away~ This was a big shock as yesterday everything was fine & no signs of sickness or problems. It is a sad day for us, but I was thankful to be there in his last few moments. Hubby found him in the morning at the bottom of his cage and he died in hubby's hands while being held. Mr. Big Stuff was with us thirteen years (* they can live up words of 15-20yr.) and he had a close encounter with being lost over 9 years ago when his cage door dropped open by accident and the dog scared him and he flew off, but he was found and returned. He had been given to me by my son as a gift one Mother's Day. Who knew you could love such a little creature so much. His feathers were the most beautiful white and he would make you laugh with his cat calls, songs and dance~ I may have to create a journal page just for his memory.
Did you ever lose a pet who meant something to you? Did you get a pet for your child not thinking you would get attached and somehow it just grew on you? And when it passed you grieved as much as your child did?
For this weeks journal prompt dedicated to Mr. Big Stuff write about a time you or your child lost a pet or create a page dedicated to your pet~
I am sure I will be in better spirits soon. Until next time I hope you are able to keep your day simple and enjoy all it holds for you.

  1. Oh so sorry, he looks like a sweetie. Losing a beloved pet is difficult especially when they take a little piece of your heart with them.

  2. Hi Sweetie,
Just want to say I am thinking about you . I lost a pet just a few months ago . He was our first cat. We had no pets at that time and he jumped in the back of my husbands truck and when my husband stopped at the school to get our daughter he found him . I was anything but thrilled . I had never had a cat . I grew to love him very much . When he died it was such an awful day . we had been looking for him the night before and he showed up on the porch the next morning barely alive. He was suffering. My sister had to help me get him to the vet to be put to sleep and we were all a mess and the hole it left was so awful . Then about a month ago my cousin had a cat that needed a home .I already have 2 ragdolls but the one who died left a huge hole . We said yes . He looks almost identical to the one we lost and while it will never be him it helps. The pet we lost was named "BlackJack" and our new one "Lil Jack"
I know it takes a while to heal .I know you will miss "Mr big stuff" . Sending you a very warm hug. take it easy today.

  3. What a lovely tribute. Our 20 year old cockatiel passed away last year, and we have wonderfully fond memories of him.

  6. Lovely tribute to Mr. Big Stuff. It doesn't matter if they are feathered or furred, they become family members. They love us, listen to us, without judgement. They are always there ... in life and in memory.

  7. Oh I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your pet. It's so hard. They are family to us and so it 's as hard as losing a family member.
Thanks for dropping by my blog....it's so nice to hear from you.
Are you still taking any of Suzi's classes? I'm having a blast. I probably should be taking Mermaids, but I think I'll wait.
    Have a good day.
