Making Time To Create

Yesterday I got to the point where I had to make some creative time happen with paint. I had been feeling like it was too long since I picked up my brushes. There has been so much going on for the wedding, but I needed to sneak in some time for me, my art, my clearing house of letting all go and just being in the moment and creating. I needed this no matter what the outcome of my short session with my paints would be!
Here is the outcome of my creative time.

The tag is something I saved from a flating iron that was purchased. I painted sections over it so its colors would match in with the painting. On the tag it says Glamour, just under it for straight finish /processed hair.
I found the tag in my stash of papers after making my curly haired girl and found it ironic and that is when I added it to my painting.

The two images on the top are pior to adding inks and changing the background slightly.
I wasn't sure if I was done I decided to add inks in the background and see where it went.

Today and over the next week I hope to make a little more time to create as in the days beyond that I know the packing will ensue, travel and all the makings for the wedding will be coming together as will the festivities and family time for my daughter Laura and Charles big day. *I decided to share with Paint Party Friday visit if you would like to see more artwork.

Do you ever find it hard to fit in your creative time? Do you bring an art journal with you when you travel?

  1. Isn't it crazy the things we save...but then, find the perfect home for them? GREAT piece! Best of luck with the upcoming wedding too:)

  2. I often find it difficult to set aside time for art. Then when I do, I don't want to stop! This is one of the commitments I'm making to myself right now -- to take time to be creative in any way I can...it keeps me grounded in the moment.

Love what you created and the tag was just waiting for you to come and find it!

Sherry, Stopping is the hard part once you get started.

  7. Right now I find it hard as my DH just had surgery. But I do try to get in time every day if possible. I also try to take an art journal when I travel. I also have a plein air paint set now and try to paint when I take a trip. Very relaxing and I love it.

  12. One cannot force creativity. Sometimes I hit a dry spell and that is when I paint just for the fun of painting with no direction in mind. Those turn out the best. Your tags are fantastic! :-)

  13. I love your ironic tag and your pretty lady! Some weeks it is very hard to fit in painting time with my work schedule, I take a sketch book or even just scratch paper when I know I will be sitting and waiting for something.

  14. It turned out lovely!!

Good luck with the big wedding!

I take my art journal on vacation and do use it but rarely open it when travelling on business so I may stop. Accomplished a lot on my beach vacation in March!

  22. I love her vibrant hair and floral hairband. And the tag was a great additional find.

I always have to take a notebook to write in and a pad to doodle in. I would panic if I had neither with me on an overnight trip or more :-))

Good luck with all the wedding preparations.

  28. I love that you shared your creative process with all of us and that you were able to make some time to paint!

I always bring my sketchbook with me... some vacations allow for more creative play than others... If I can't spend as much time drawing/painting, I make up for it with my camera :)
