Hi Everybody! I Came across this video today and thought I have to share it. It speaks to creativity and the learning curves we go through. I hope you watch it! I posted my completed "Winter" season journal page earlier today & full post with photo collage of progress and other things if you would like to see it click here when you are done with the video. But here is just one photograph in case you don't have time.
Ira Glass on Storytelling from David Shiyang Liu on Vimeo.
Ira does say years, Years, YEARS! Do a volume of work, huge amounts of work! So go create something! Fight your way through! Thanks for those words of wisdom and encouragement Ira Glass!
I can so relate to this, sometimes struggling, sometimes hard on myself, aching to grow creatively to produce quality work. I am going to fight my way through! Now going to create! Sketch, Draw, Paint and repeat! Paint, photograph, Paint, Photograph repeat!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend ahead! Linking up with Paint Party Friday come check it out if you like! Leave a comment so I can visit you back! Follow along if you like! But, be sure and be creative!
How do you work through your creative obstacles?
What a great post! I am right in that same page. Going at it, working and re working. I stopped painting for a while because I was into dolls, and because I did not want to get completely covered in paintings! But for months now I have been loving coming back to my brushes and paint tubes :o) Thanks for sharing this!

ReplyDeleteYour winter girl is beautiful! I can relate to your struggle. Creating can be difficult sometimes, and I think that it helps to try and maintain a sense of fun and play, and not be too hard on ourselves and attached to outcomes. Theresa, I would also like to let you know that you are a winner in my giveaway! Congrats! Wini xo

oh that video was great, as is your winter girl! I can so relate to what he is saying. ok, about loosing your work, I am crying with you. That made my stomach turn, as this is my biggest fear. It is a reminder that I need to sit down and back up!!! My back up hard drive failed this month, so now what? Thanks for the reminder, and I really hope you can find everything!
ReplyDeleteReally enjoyed the video! Thanks for posting this. I even enjoyed the type and the way his message was presented.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great message. thank you for sharing it. I can relate to it entirely. The winter season journal page is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYour Winter page is gorgeous! And what a great inspiring video! Its kind of serendipitous because it was about storytelling and even though that can relate to us as artists too, the thing I am having the most trouble getting confidence about is the childrens novel I am trying to write and keep ignoring for all the reasons he is talking about, lol! Thanks for sharing this! Deb
ReplyDeleteGreat advice for authors, artists, or anyone with creative ambitions!
ReplyDeleteFabulous winter spirit. So elegant and graceful.
ReplyDeleteMaking my rounds still! Thanks for your lovely comments! Theresa
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your ladies of seasons- so very beautiful! I'm just now getting around to the PPF'ers, if I don't get to everyone by the end of Friday, my computer becomes the property of the kids and I can't get anywhere near it!
ReplyDeleteIra Glass is a total hero of mine, and I'd never seen/heard this clip. Thanks so much for posting it - it's so reassuring that I'm on the right track. I think it's taken me 40+ years to flex my creative muscles because I wasn't willing to go through this period of being bad. It's hard to be patient while waiting for my skills to match my ambition, and I have those "What's the point?" days. This video is a reminds me that I'm doing exactly what I should be doing and not to stop! Your finished winter page is beautiful. Love the glowing orb in her hand.
ReplyDeleteNice work and Ira is such an inspiration.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great video! Thank you for sharing it. It made me feel much better...lol, YEARS...he said, years! Phew, OK - then I am right on schedule. :) Have a wonderful, creative week. (Beautiful painting too!)
