Free Journal Prompt "She Gave Me Wings"

Hello friends, journalers and anyone visiting for the first time. This is a journal page that I created using images of faces that I had already drawn in separate drawings. I photo copied, cut them out and then pasted them on the page with matte medium. Once glued down I painted and used stamps, charcoal pencil to outline and also add lines for hair, wings and words. My words were inspired from thinking of my mom. March 8 it would of been her birthday she passed away four years ago this summer. It is hard for me to think of it still but I feel close to her when working on my art. Her loss is what really spurred me on to making big changes in my life, it took over a year to take the leap to make big changes. There was a lot of reflection of what was currently going on in my life at the time and growing unhappiness with my career at the time. I can always hear my mom saying you can do what ever you set out to do. You have talents and I would love to see you be able to use your talents! Well unfortunately she will never be able to see what changes I have made here, unless she is looking down on me and I hope she is!

This page is created from the words she put in my heart and how she gave me wings. So written on my journal page is, "She gave me wings her voice was in my heart." I will always feel her in my heart and remember her voice of wisdom. I am happy to say that I have also made a new painting inspired from this journal page. I can't wait to share it with you. But until then I hope you challenge yourself to make a journal page of your own and if you are having a road block it is great to take something you have already made, copy it and change it up to suit your thoughts in the moment. It may be just what you need to break free and evolve your page into something else!
Who has influenced your art journey?

Journal Prompt: Take an image you already have created and transform its purpose. Write something inspired from your page onto your page. Or create a background and add t an angel quote to your page.

I just love Holli's illustrations she is inspired by and draws children.

These are just a few spring illustrations inspiring me tonight. I will have a  new journal prompt post on Sunday for you. Its been a bit of a week for me, migraines have been kicking up.... today is the first day all week where I don't have to deal with my head heavy so I let Sammie have a friend over night. Since they are entertaining each other I thought I would share what I found. Now back to some reading. How do you spend your quiet evenings? Who are some of your favorite illustrators?

Pretty Blooms on a Spring Walk

Hello friends. It was so beautiful in between the rains I had to take a short walk. So Sammie on her scooter and me with camera in hand squeezed in a 30 minute walk. These are some of the beautiful blooms we saw on our way. Spring walks make me happy inside and out. What is making you happy today?

Color Inspiration & Journaling

Today I have a little color inspiration for you after sharing what I am up to today. I hope to listen to some music, take some photographs of a blooming flower in my yard in between rains and put some thoughts down in my journal but, I must say I have been awakened in the night due to the dog barking at all hours probably because of a possum. So I feel my inner dream weaver has been on the blitz these last few days. I can't seem to over come a mini rush of migraines either. Subsequently no painting! Which makes me sad! So to get my creative juices flowing I decided to create the color inspiration from the photo below and yes it just happens to have more pinks! Really I was looking for reds but I loved aspects of this photograph and I was inspired to create a color charts from it and a pattern. So I will save red for another day.

Color Inspiration

So this is what I came up with. I hope it inspires you to get creating a pattern or some color charts. Take out your felt pens, colored pencils or just pretty papers and cut and glue patterns. Maybe that is what I will do since I don't think I am up to or will get a chance to paint.  I hope to have some new art, journal pages and photography by the end of the week! Until then wishing you a wonderful day!  Don't you wish you could see  ideas flying  like confetti?

Free Journal Prompt " Explore, Create, Blossom"

Hello there journalers I hope this finds you well. I decided to share this journal prompt with you today showing you how I added flower cut shapes and layered them into my painted journal page. I used the flowers cut from the page and also layered the pages with the cut out flowers in the corners to balance my page. So basically I have inverted the order of the position of the flowers. I kept the pallet simple and drew in with color pencils some words around her head. The words are Create, Explore and Blossom. I used bright pastels to make the flowers and her face pop. As you can see in the close up there is quite a bit of paint layers. You never know what you will create if you explore and let yourself blossom! So I hope you make a journal page where you explore using cut out pages with flower shapes or what ever shape you like and see where it takes you. What is your favorite part of journaling?

Journal Prompt: Use cut flower shapes in your journal page. Words; Create, Explore Blossom

Cherry Blossoms Photography

It has been gloomy, pouring rain and down right cold. But I managed to take my camera outside on this very crisp day just before the rain and take some photographs of my neighbors blooming cherry tree. The blossoms are big and beautiful. I used a bokeh of hearts in the back ground and a vintage tint to add a slightly aged  effect, then added the words spring love.

In this photograph I just added text. The beauty of the pink against the blue and the dark branches are a sight to behold.

This is the same image as the first only no tint to make it look aged.

This is towards the base of the tree. She just wants to bloom and to grow even by where she was once pruned. I love the pinks against the gray of the fence and the bark of the tree.

I have more photographs to share with you another day! I also worked on a journal page but not sure if I am  happy with it. I have painted three things that aren't sitting well with me. Maybe I should clean up my table space and it will help me see clearer or maybe my creative juices are needing some sunshine. Either way today I will be straightening up and then painting. lol
Do you ever just keep working on projects until you just run out of room? What's on your creative agenda today?

Color Inspiration " Spring Relaxed " & "Sweet Hummingbird"

I thought I would share a little color inspiration today. The cold snap has me dreaming of sitting  on the lawn relaxing on a spring day. The buttercup of the skirt, the Bing cherry color of the slip on shoes, blue jeans and grass. A pallet of colors I could paint with easily.  Another image that is giving me color inspiration is my hummingbird photograph. I can't wait to see more arrive with the milder climate. The lilacs and greens in pretty hues. When looking for paints I often go to the store and the one locally doesn't carry all I am looking for by far. So when searching online I found a Golden's Color Chart I think would help anyone choosing colors online. But I will still have to mix my own colors to get what I am aiming for. I also came across a Folk Art Color Chart Chart which seems to have the perfect shades of yellow, green and baby pink! I will be searching for the perfect shades of lilac and green too.  Dear Hubby,  I know I have lots of paints but my pallet requires more options. Please don't be alarmed if I add to my stash! xo Theresa
When the seasons change do you chose different paint palettes? What color is inspiring you lately?
