Purple & Green

This has been a week of unpacking, laundry and open house, but I saw that Inspiration Avenue was using a purple and green prompt this week. Knowing that I love both those colors I thought I would share a couple of purple and green photographs of flowers and one of my journal pages I did but originally wasn't going to share. You know a  journal page that is just so, so and just for you, but it fit the bill for this post so I decided to include it.

The one thing I love about the Mr. is he always comes to give me a kiss in the morning prior to leaving for work.

White Sage is so beautiful when it blooms in the spring

I don't know who loves Rabbits Ear Lavender  more the bees or me?

Lisianthus is what we used for a pop of color for the wedding flowers, the buds open to the beautiful flowers.

Purple Kate Spade Shoes my daughter wore under her wedding dress I altered my photograph and gave it a green border

I had to sneak in a photograph from the wedding photographer Kelly Boitano just in case you want to see more purple and green & wedding photographs in a journalist style!

Then don't forget to pop by Inspiration Avenue there is still time for you to join in the fun prior to Sunday's deadline for this week or visit their blog to catch the list of participants to see what everyone else created for the prompt. Hope you drop by Sunday for some more journal art. I promise to share some painting as I get back in my little art space and creating again now that things are settling down from all the festivities of the wedding.

"But, luckily, he kept his wits and his Purple crayon." --from Harold and the Purple Crayon (1955)

"Green is the prime color of the world, and that from which its loveliness arises." --Pedro Calderon de la Barca, Spanish Poet and Playwright, 1600-1681

What is your favorite shade of purple or green? What color shoes did you or would you wear under your wedding dress?

"Furry" Friend and Studio Cat

This is our family kitty Jade and a portrait I took of her last year.
She likes to help me craft.
How much did you say you need?
OK got it, let me hold it for you while you cut it.
We did a great scrapbook page.
Whew I am ready for a nap now!
Ready for action again says our furry friend Jade. I hope you had fun meeting her.
Furry friend, Family Pet, Studio Cat

This week I have played along with Inspiration Avenue's prompt Furry. So I thought you might like to meet Jade aka my studio cat, but don't tell Sammie that! Really Jade thinks Sammie is her mom and when she gets home from school I have to loan her out. Jade is so attached to her that she cries when she goes to play with her friends. She is a sweet heart. I never thought I would like an indoor cat. I had had farm cats way back when we lived out of town. But she has really grown to make us rethink what a cat and furry creature can mean to someone. Maybe I will take the time to paint her some day or have my brother who does animal portraits do one for me. He is an amazing artist, but that is a post for another day! PS. If you didn't know it I share my crafts on my other blog Msartist Sew Crafty.blogspot
Do you have any pets? How much joy do they bring you? Have you ever done an animal portrait?

Simply Sunday "Incognito"

This week I decided to play along with Inspiration Avenues prompt "Incognito". I immediately thought of Joan of Arc a French girl born in 1412 and a heroine after she led the French army to several important victories. I can imagine her posing as a man to assert herself to follow her calling. ( above is my journal page) I am not afraid. I was born to do this. ~Joan of Arc

Last weeks Journal prompt was to take a prayer and journal it. I came across this example of an image and Dante's prayer together and thought you might enjoy it~ You can still submit a journal page or writing to Mr. Linky at the bottom of post right here & view the post if you haven't.

PLEASE REMEMBER ME ..
Weirena

When the dark wood fell before me
And all the paths were overgrown
When the priests of pride say there is no other way
I tilled the sorrows of stone

I did not believe because I could not see
Though you came to me in the night
When the dawn seemed forever lost
You showed me your love in the light of the stars

Cast your eyes on the ocean
Cast your soul to the sea
When the dark night seems endless
Please remember me

Though we share this humble path, alone
How fragile is the heart
Oh give these clay feet wings to fly
To touch the face of the stars

Breathe life into this feeble heart
Lift this mortal veil of fear
Take these crumbled hopes, etched with tears
We'll rise above these earthly cares

Cast your eyes on the ocean
Cast your soul to the sea
When the dark night seems endless

I know this is going to be a busy week for everyone so I decided to have last week's prompt be for two week & you can find prompt and information from the link above.
Hope this finds you well. Will you be staying in town or traveling next week for Thanksgiving holiday? I would love to know~

This weeks prompt at Inspiration Avenue is "Happiness Is"....
Here is my illustration for "happiness is" from the artist, mom and me ~ Yes I still like swinging as much as my daughter does & we both like reading books in the sun~I can think of a lot of things for happiness is. I might just have to create something else too. What does "happiness is" mean to you?

While we try to teach our children all about life, Our children teach us what life is all about. ~ Angela Schwindt

Happiness is a perfume you cannot pour onto others without getting a few drops on yourself. ~ Ralph Waldo Emmerson
